Well I think you all know where I stand in Japanese cartoons. ANIME IS LIFE.
Now, I align another one of my passions with this. Anime plus MUSIC equals unique soundtracks. Being a 21st century musician requires one to adapt and be creative with music and what they can contribute their music too. Most of the time music is playing in the background and it is necessary in creating a mood. I believe there will always be a high demand for original soundtracks in Anime, (as well as other forms of entertainment media) being that older music, especially jazz, is a lot more recognized and appreciated in Japanese culture.
The anime Sakamichi no Apollon, aka Kids on the Slope, is an anime all about JAZZ. It focuses on the character's development through high school, and accents the beauty in creating music with others. In the soundtrack, they arranged a version of Lullaby of Birdland. This song gives respect by acknowledging a jazz standard, and makes it original through the singers natural accent and creative twist.
I suggest you watch the anime, but, for now, listen to an amazing song: Lullaby of Birdland- OST Sakamichi no Apollon.

P.S. I love you all, and you are wonderful.
