What Does Plato Think?

I just want to redirect some attention to the perspective of this dude...

Maybe compare some of these ideas to the transforming  views we see today??

  1. Very cool that you posted this. I'm taking a class called "Why? The Quest for the Meaning of Life" and we read several of Plato's dialogues, so having Plato cross over into music is quite interesting. Maybe the imitation theory could be expanded to a sort of anti-imitation; for example, we learn from our parents, but we don't always imitate them. Sometimes we do the opposite of what they do because we don't like it and want to be different. Also, I was reading something the other day that said that because philosophers like Plato and Aristotle didn't know music (and by extension art) in and out, they couldn't speak accurately about its true nature. Just another thing to think about.
